Walk On Low 04:34
Hear the chime of ice in the eyes That echoes between you and I So whither will you go, now the air's taking hold With cries so bright and bold? I'll go down to the earth on the bridge And whistle the songs of our years But whither will you go, now the air's taking hold With cries so bright and bold? See the wings reaching out on the ridge To shelter the youngest of dears For the eagle she knew, the eagle she flew To bold and bright and blue Oh brother, oh brother oh Oh brother, oh brother oh Oh brother, oh brother oh Oh brother, oh brother oh Meet me down by the earth on the bridge And listen to the songs of our years Then walk on low, walk on low But whither will you go, now the air's taking hold With cries so bright and bold?

Silva 03:16
Rain rescues morning Followed by the sun And after all the red deer run Silva stands alone Reaching and rooting Branching, holding on She gathers diamonds on her own And hangs them all a home Rays are on the rise Bring sap, unwrap and drink the prize Silva's secret fit to burst With the weight she bears to new birth Watching Silva through this day Spread the life for which she came Shake and shine until she's gone And winter arms take their bride along Until winter arms take their bride along.

Jagged harp down in East Row Tear me away from my bones Brick and cheek along West Road Carve me out of this hole It’s a miracle we’re here at all It’s a wonder that you’re gone Marble lady crossing Deacon Street Pedalling your limbs as you flow Roll the washing down where the rivers meet To make this day daisy glow You heave and ho, you heave and ho with fever Where my heart sat down They steal you though, they steal you though the leavers Weaving the lanes out of town It’s a miracle we’re here at all It’s a wonder that you’re gone Twisted waltz down in the echo hall Toes pitter pattering the tiles Play a dance to slide the bodies to Gliding them home easy style Under oaks, boughs and gallows they lie In the arms of the Lily lake they lie Over cobble stones and barrows they lie, they lie It’s a miracle we’re here at all It’s a wonder that you’re gone It’s a miracle we’re here at all And it’s a wonder that you’re gone.

There’s so much to discover here, so much I want to share Walking back along the road with springtime prickling the air And through the graveyard, I think of family How our bones will knit together in our place under the green The nuthatches are diving for the food above the sill And the daffodils are sprouting at the foot of Harper’s long hill The crescent moon is like a letter box through steam And you know I whisper to you on the other side of the green My heart has never left you dear and my mind feels just the same There are memories aplenty for to keep me on this train And I’d love to paint a picture of the places that I’ve been But better that I meet you on the other side… The dogs are sniffing round me and the farmers on their trail There’s a barrow load of hay to deliver for the Summer harvest sale The logs are stacked up like a forest mountain scene But I’m always thinking of you on the other side of the green My heart has never left you dear and my mind feels just the same There are memories aplenty for to keep me on this train And I’d love to paint a picture of the places that I’ve been But better that I meet you on the other side of the green There’s so much to discover here, so much I want to share The daffodils on Harper’s Hill and springtime in the air And when I listen to the record of our Christmas in the snow There’s nothing I’d like better than to hold you in and never let you go My heart has never left you dear and my mind feels just the same There are memories aplenty for to keep me on this train And I'd love to paint a picture of the places that I've been But better that I meet you on the other side of the green.

Oh, what to weep is Am I the only one to weep alone? Oh, what to weep is Sometimes everyone must weep alone The little things that make a mark Upon the every day A melody, a lyric phrase A recollection made Oh, what to keep is There anything that will let go? Oh, what to keep is There anyone who can let go? The liberty of making tracks And raking back the load Fragility and paper maps An empty hand to hold An empty hand, an empty heart An empty heart, a heavy heart A heavy heart, a heavy foot, a road Oh, what to weep is Am I the only one to weep alone? Oh, what to sleep is One day everyone must sleep alone.

Become Of Us 02:49
Become of us What will become Of wit and word, Of courage comb? Of fertile form What will become? The lithe and lean The barrow bone Harmony Ringing and rolling easily Floating the sorrows through Beauty blue Where go the weak? Where do they fall? Anatomy collection call Oh raging ruin Oh Martha May! On Golden Road And granite grain Every Colour will run together And weather the rapids’ flow When we go.

Sorry was the sight of Erica’s demise She held the cotton on the kite Merry all the while and poetry her style She brought the twinkle to the night But it’s old rope, so let go There are fields and farms to roam As lantern light can wane, I watched you gently fade And oh to harbour these remains You took the warmth inside, the one thing I relied And sat so still as I became The ebb and flow of letting go Of a life I need and know The faint relief of turning cheek Before new lesions show It’s old rope so let go There are fields and farms to roam It’s old rope so let go There are fields and farms to roam So saddled to ride I’ll be, wherever the wind doth lead And may she keep good company As soon as the first bells sound, I’ll scatter you all around Over the marshes to the Lea The ebb and flow of letting go of a life we need and know The faint relief of turning cheek before new lesions grow You brought the twinkle to the night.

Above I walk, with fruits of the season From the cliffs I spy the island from the other side My right arm shields from the creatures I’m teasing Keep the beasts at bay, life over life The four birds, the poor birds, swoop and dive A morsel makes for a quiet night And all this time, the beach is receding As the liquid snakes the vessel to a lighter line Upon the deck, the mountain is heaving Dish of the day, life over life Then one fish, a young fish, leaps and dives His gills agasp for air inside Behind my spine, the figures are turning Their heads to prey on wildflower finds Between each page, keepsakes for learning We take what we need, life over life As your love and our love bends and breaks We feed the words that bare our shapes As your love and more love breaks, it bends It peels away, but seldom ends.

Tulips 03:42
Tulips all around me grow Yellow, red and orange glow There’s a ring inside So down the river glide Into my heart tomorrow Sombre was the tone of pain Creeping through my walls again And under every smile And into every mile It left a memory chain But tulips all around me grow Yellow, red and orange glow There’s a ring inside So down the river glide Into my heart tomorrow Tears fell like a waterfall Into the grooves and planting holes Seeds came settling in The sun peeked shyly over the hill The leaves ascend themselves until Colours crowned them all Now tulips all around me grow Yellow, red and orange glow There’s a ring inside So down the river glide Into my heart tomorrow So down the river glide Into my heart tomorrow.

about

"Songs Of Our Years is an understated gem of an album whose quiet introspection is tempered with an abiding optimism; it’s a rare blend and something to be treasured. Her attention to detail marks Gill Sandell out as one of the best singer/songwriters on the contemporary folk music scene and the contributing musicians bring out all the nuance and subtlety of the material with performances and arrangements that are always compelling. Don’t let this one pass you by." Folk Radio UK
