lyrics
In the dying of a broken love, there's a wonder tongue,
And she speaks of the magical places we've been and gone,
As she lifts us out of the dark with the last remaining spark,
Shakes us up and sets us gently down, saying
Wrap your given treasure carefully
Feed it on the blossom of the Cherry tree
Do the dance of bees 'till you're giddy on your knees,
Breathe the air and never stop believing
The louder you call, the further your words will fly
The brighter they shine, the quicker they'll catch my eye
The softer they fall, the longer our love
Will carry us up to the wings of the doves
But the harder they hit, the deeper the bruises sigh, so
Wrap your given treasure carefully
Feed it on the blossom of the Cherry tree
Do the dance of bees 'till you're giddy on your knees,
Breathe the air and never stop believing
Haven't you ever pulled the knife from someone's back?
Rescued a desperate damsel from the railway track?
Succoured the stems of wilting flowers?
Held the hands of clocks for hours?
Died and lived and died before you met me?
Wrap your given treasure carefully
Feed it on the bloosom of the Cherry tree
Do the dance of bees 'till you're giddy on your knees,
Breathe the air and never stop believing
Wrap your given treasure carefully
Feed it on the blossom of the Cherry tree
Do the dance of bees 'till you're giddy on your knees,
Breathe the air and never stop believing
Breathe the air and never stop believing
Breathe the air and never stop believing.

Really honoured to play piano and accordion for my dear friend Ted Barnes's latest album. Beautiful tunes and songs, with both humour and melancholy. Gill Sandell

I love these alternative versions of the 'Murmuration' songs. The stripped down instrumentation creates an intimite vibe, while the poem intertwines them into a concept-like album. As a result, this is a new album that stands out on its own and that is more than just a complement to 'Murmuration'. 'Ordinary' already was a beautiful song, yet 'Extraordinary' adds something extra for me. And because the piano intro somehow calls up some recognition. Another beautiful album by Emily Barker! rbergman
The Oakland singer's latest album imagines the power struggle between man and nature as a slow, steady tempest of dark folk. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 20, 2019
